My question is “How can clay convey comfort and security (or lack thereof)?” Throughout my process I used many sketchbooks that lay out all of my ideas, and then through my process photos you can see where I have tried and tried again (especially when it comes to throwing the spheres). As far as inspiration I was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and Kieth Wallace’s work. With Vincent you can see how much his work flows and moves and is a very emotional digging piece that I have created such in several of my works. In Kieth Wallace’s work, he is telling you in a very strong and direct stance about what his idea is, and his forms are very simplistic and easy to read which is what has helped change my work. In my work, I use emotions or feelings such as stage fright, home, and ideas of relaxation to inspire my work. Not only do I represent the mental side of security, but also the physical side such as literal containment whether that is man made or found naturally.
